As arguably Denver’s best-selling and best-known band, The Luminous can easily sell massive local venues such as the Red Rocks and Fiddler’s Green amphitheatres. But the group goes on a small scale for their concert from September 14 to Boulder Theater by offering an intimate “evening with” set. Singer-songwriter Jason mraz is heading to Boulder December 17-18 for a short stay at the University of Colorado Mackey Auditorium. He is promoting the 20th anniversary edition of his album “Live & Acoustic”, which recalls the days when Mraz played on the San Diego cafe scene. Tickets for shows for all ages, with the support of Toca Rivera and Gregory Page, are on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 17. ($ 51- $ 91, axs.com)
Pop-rock act American authors – known for their ubiquitous song “Best Day of My Life” and other multi-platinum hits – play Loveland’s Wild Wonderful Weekend in Centerra. Country-blues singer Charley crockett, who recently received a boost by opening for famed Orville Peck (including at Red Rocks), returns for a headlining date at the Gothic theater. Tickets for the 16+ show on January 8, 2022 go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 10. ($ 29- $ 35, axs.com)
Tribute to Led Zeppelin Get the lead amounts to Amphitheater of the Red Rocks September 23 for a show that benefits PBS12. Tickets for the event for all ages are on sale. ($ 50- $ 60, axs.com)
Given how common cancellations and postponements caused by COVID have become in recent weeks, it’s encouraging to see shows that are actually being rescheduled. Lucinda williams concert at Boulder Theater, originally scheduled for September 8, is now moved to January 18, 2022. Like many of these postponed concerts, refunds are ONLY available within 30 days of the show being rescheduled (in this case), starting Thursday, September 9. . Five Mail concerts in Colorado bit the dust as the band canceled all of their fall acoustic dates due to COVID-19 concerns. This includes October 18-19 in Fort Collins’ Aggie Theater, October 21-22 to Boulder Theater and on October 23 at Aspen belly. Refunds are available at the point of purchase.
Also canceled or postponed this week due to COVID-19 and delta variant issues: Purity ring Concert from September 15 to Boulder Theater (no new date has been set); Gary Numan’s October 14 visit to Englewood’s Gothic theater (Same); Saint-Motel’s October 8 Boulder Theater show (canceled outright); and Red fang November 11 show at Boulder’s Fox theater (Same). Refunds are available at the point of purchase.
